About The Perfect Wave Gallery

G'day I'm Paul Manning and welcome to my website The Perfect Wave Gallery.

The Perfect Wave Gallery is all about creating Awesome Images of our living by the ocean. Life by the ocean my passion, my goal is to share with you a view inside the waves, the majesty of the sunrise and sunset, the power and fury of storms, the fun of surfing and just living by the beach. Once the salt gets in your blood there is no going back!

The Gallery brings it to you as I see it...Nothing in the Gallery is staged and having a 'real' job means that I can only take photos when time permits so the photos in the Gallery are how it is when I was there... no filters and most often no tri-pod - (they just don’t travel well when most photos are the taken on the go).

The Perfect Wave Gallery began in Maroubra NSW in 2006 and is now based in Rainbow Bay, QLD where I live with my wife and 2 boys. Most of my images are created chasing Josh (12 with Asperger's Syndrome), our grommet around the surf. Whilst Josh has been the mad keen surfer his younger brother Ben (10) is now getting the bug and racking up the water time! If we are not at home - check the beach!





The Gallery really took shape in Dec 2004 when the Tsunami hit Indonesia and we realised just how lucky we are to live on such a spectacular coast line and my objective of sharing it with the world began to take shape. On the 26th of December 2004 I was walking by the sea. Over the coming days the magnitude of the tragedy was revealed to the world. On the 31st of December 2004 I set out to capture a year by the sea. A collection of photographs that tells the story of a year of beauty, change and fun living by the sea.

In 2006 looking back at the photographs that I had collected the best of the best found themselves residing in a directory called Perfect Waves. In April 2006 I got a Mac and free access to a .Mac account that allowed me to create a website that I called the Perfect Wave Gallery specifically set up to share photographs that were doing nothing more useful than taking up disk space - likely to never be looked at again.

In March 2007 the "www.perfectwavegallery.com" domain was registered in its current form. Every month now the gallery continues to grow as I get out and about taking photos of Australia's spectacular surf, beaches and now expanding to life on this brilliant planet.

In late 2008 the Perfect Wedding Gallery was added to the Perfect Wave Gallery to help people capture lasting memories of their special day by the beach!

The amount of rubbish that gets left behind on the beaches drives me nuts...its everywhere and its unacceptable. Capturing this rubbish in my photographs is a core part of the Gallery dedicated to a sustainable future for generations to come. Keep it clean people!
