Snapper Review Week Ending 8 Jan 2010
Welcome in 2010! We’ve had some fun days both in and out of the water over the last week despite conditions being a real mixed bag. New Years eve and day were great days – if you had other things to do, the light northerly winds combined with massive tides making it challenging to find waves – good thing was there wasn’t many people out. The forecast looked promising with a rise in swell and southerly change predicted for Sunday afternoon. Sure enough the southerly blew and has cleaned up condition since. The swell swung round to the south a bit and the waves have hung in around the 2ft mark for most of the week now. D’bah’s been the pick for the short boarders – most of you would have seen Mick’s wave on Tuesdays as line up of the day. This morning (Thursday) was an absolute cracker – no wind (about the 5knot mark) and 1 – 2ft of clean sucky waves on the low tide. We’ve had some massive tides the last week covering up all the sand between Snapper and Marley and the smallest beach I’ve seen at Rainbow Bay and Greenmount for years. Way out off Greenmount has been the pick of the bunch for the longboarders and with the holiday crowds there are no shortage of them out there! Kirra even had a little wave running on the low tide over the past few mornings.
